Overview

Reminders in 5day.io help you stay on top of your schedule—whether it's for personal tasks, project deliverables, or team follow-ups. You can create reminders for any important activity and get notified at the right time to take action.

Reminders can be created independently or linked directly to a specific task or subtask, offering flexibility to organize your day or plan work-specific updates.

Reminder Types

  • Event Reminders (e.g., personal or meeting alerts):
    When creating a new standalone reminder, users are shown a simple Date and Time picker to set when the reminder should trigger.
  • Task/Subtask Reminders:
    When linked to a task or subtask, the Date field includes more contextual options:
    • On due date
    • Before due date
    • After due date
    • Custom date (lets the user manually choose any date)

This makes it easy to schedule task-related nudges based on deadlines or key project dates.

How to Create Reminders

Option 1: Create a Event Reminder from the Navigation Menu

  1. Click on the Reminder Icon
    In the left navigation menu, click the Reminder icon (alarm clock symbol).
  2. Open the Reminder Form
    A modal popup will appear with a form to enter reminder details.
  3. Fill Out the Reminder Details
    1. Type: Choose the type of reminder:
      1. Event – for personal or general reminders.
      2. Task/Subtask – if the reminder is tied to a specific work item.
    2. Title: Enter the name of the reminder.
    3. Description (Optional): Click Add Description to include any notes.
    4. Date: Select a specific date for the reminder.
    5. Time: You can either manually enter the time (hours, minutes, AM/PM) or pick from preset options (11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 6:00 PM, 9:00 PM).
  4. Click 'Create'
    Once the details are entered, click Create to save the reminder.

Option 2: Create a Reminder from a Task or Subtask

In 5day.io, you can create reminders that are directly linked to tasks or subtasks. These reminders help ensure you stay aligned with deadlines and follow-ups across your project work.

You can create task or subtask reminders using three methods:

Method A: From the Task List View

  1. Go to the relevant Project.
  2. Locate the task or subtask in the list.
  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the item.
  4. Select Set Reminder from the menu.

Method B: From Inside the Task Panel

  1. Click on the task to open its detailed view.
  2. In the task header, click on the three-dot menu (⋮).
  3. Select Set Reminder from the dropdown.

Method C: From the Reminder Icon in the Navigation Menu

  1. Click on the Reminder (alarm clock) icon from the left navigation bar.
  2. In the popup modal, select the Type as Task or Subtask.
  3. Select the relevant task or subtask:
    1. Multiple tasks & subtasks can be selected at a time.
    2. Selected items will auto-fill the Title field.
    3. To remove any selection, click the ‘x’ icon next to the task or subtask name.

Note:
For all three methods (A, B, and C), once a task or subtask is selected:

  • You can optionally click Add Description to include notes.
  • For Date, you’ll get contextual options:
    • On Due Date
    • Before Due Date
    • After Due Date
    • Custom Date (allows selecting any specific date)
  • Time can be set manually (hours, minutes, AM/PM) or selected from quick options like 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 6:00 PM, or 9:00 PM.
  • Click Create to save the reminder.

🔔 Notifications

Users will receive in-app and/or web notifications at the scheduled reminder time.
Note: If a user does not want to receive reminder notifications, they can manage this in the Notifications Settings Panel by disabling reminders.
